Davy Force drops some new DEVO visuals.
About the Project
Directed/Animated/Designed a new synced live visuals track for DEVO’s “Going Under” for their 2025 Live tour. Worked from a treatment from DEVO’s Gerald Casale that tells the song’s story of two friends who go underground only to be transformed into mutant spud boys.
Going Under
Davy Force created this video in around a month in the style of “modern retro cgi” using traditional 3D character animation tools and compositing. The entire video was rendered twice: both in limited shading and in colored wireframe, then is mixed between the two pulsating to the music.
Davy has created a bunch of videos over the years for DEVO, including a synced live tour visuals track for their 2010 song “Don’t Shoot” and generic tour visual elements, as well as all the animated visuals for DEVO 2.0 (DEV2.0) in 2006. Davy has also created promotional animations for Mark Mothersbaugh’s Mutato Musika, animated components of Mark’s fine art work, and music videos for Gerald Casale’s spinoff musical persona “Jihad Jerry”.
